Hermès Scarf 90 cm – Anémones – Caty Latham (1980)

VENDU

The "Anémones" scarf (Anemones) is a great classic of the House, designed by the emblematic Caty Latham. We present here the very first edition, from 1980 (the design would be reissued in 1983). The drawing is a masterpiece of architectural composition, in which a complex central rosette is framed by structural arches and anemone flowers with vibrant petals.
The black colourway is the key element of this piece. It is particularly rare and sought after by collectors, as the House of Hermès uses it only sparingly. On this deep ground, the flowers in shades of fuchsia, plum and lavender stand out with a dramatic, captivating intensity.

A word from Diane
My selection criteria are drastic and I do not usually choose scarves in this condition, unless it is a museum piece. But for this one, I made an exception. Why? Because the black colourway is so rare at Hermès, and the colours of these flowers won me over. When worn, the micro-holes (the size of a pinhead) are invisible in the folds of the silk; all that remains is the absolute chic of this original edition.

This scarf is a pre-owned piece. All our scarves are cleaned and pressed by a specialist Hermès dry cleaner before going on sale.
